A journal to document the mistakes I will make doing covered calls.
Hey Randy,
ReplyDeleteWhat tools do you use and what evauluation methods do you use to determine:
a. The stocks you will invest in for CC
b. If you let the stock get called away or if you roll forward or if you sell at end of month?
For some insight into (b), see:
ReplyDeletehttp://wrongwaycoveredcalls.blogspot.com/2009/08/transaction-and-analysis-ledger-update.html
I typically only let an equity get called away if that was the plan from the start of purchasing the equity (e.g. SDS, PZZA, INT).
For (a), I usually use Rule#1, Magic Formula, IBD's Top 100, Zacks #1 Ranked, and MSN StockScouter top picks, as well as various stock scans, as starting points. I also like Mike's Morningstar Fundamental analysis worksheet from the JustCoveredCalls group.
However, note that most of my holdings right now are ETF's, with foreign and domestic small and mid to large-cap exposure.
